Dancing on the river

The first day I took a metro to the Eiffel Tower and spent an entire hour looking at the city the spread below me like an ocean. I walked up and down the little streets, finding little nooks and cafés tucked away like frightened mice. I also found a quaint tiny garden on a tiny alley next to a very small café. I had lunch there and the waiters were very nice. I relaxed in the garden for a little while and read a book. [No I don't want to talk about the boys! I don't give a bloody thought to them!] The director wants me to talk about the boys that kept bothering me throughout the story, but they come in later. [I thought I said no interruptions!] Anyways, back to the story. The next day I went to visit Notre Dame. I had a lovely time wandering around the old church. I had a really pretty view of the mismatched roof tops from the top of the cathedral. I ate lunch on the Seine. I have to admit you something. French food is way better than American and British food! Come to think of it, the only thing that's worst is the water. It's disgusting! Back to the story... After lunch I went to Bertillon, supposedly the best ice cream on the planet. It probably was. They have the best ice cream flavors on the planet! My favorite is the caramelle buerre salée (salted carmel). I got back in time for dinner and after dinner the family took my back along the Seine, near Notre Dame, to watch the dancing.

The dancing is a tradition amongst the Parisians. There were so many different types of music playing! Tango, Salsa, Swing, Folk to name a few. We stopped at the Swing section and Sébastien and Marie-Helen (my hosts) jumped in. Rose sat on the side cheering the others along.
"Why don't you dance too?" She asked me innocently. "You do know 'ow to dance Swing, right?" I nod and she pushed me into the crowd. I was swept away, literally. I got partnered up with a guy about my age who seemed to be really familiar. We danced for ages. Finally the crowd started to ebb and I had to go. I rejoined Rose and her family and we walked. Believe it or not, even though it was around 11 o'clock, it was light enough to be 7!

Breakaway, the beginning

I could finally get away from my family! It was the first time I could breakaway! No more stuffy dinner, private lesson from moldy old tutors, and no more servants that called me Miss. I insisted on taking a commercial plane and to not be accompanied. It was a dream come true. I bought a soda and chips like a normal teen and imagined my life without the fame and the formality. Somehow I fall asleep and sleep through the entire plane ride! I dunno how I did it, I just did. When we touched down in Paris, a family that said they could host me during my stay collected me at the gate. They were nice enough and not rich! They had a little girl who was about five years who made sure to tell me everything about her family, older sister and all. The older sister was two years older than me and so she was always somewhere else. I hardly ever saw the older sister. She clearly resented me for some reason but I had no idea at the time. She always dressed in velvets and fake silks as if she were trying to look rich or trying to impress me. Nothing was formal, I got to wear whatever I wanted (except my skin), the only rule was I had to be home by dinner time or they were going to send out a search party. It really was a dream come true!

Introduction

My name is Tatiana Grey...Devereux. Yes, I said Devereux. Yes, as in the most important family of the United States. [Can I go? This is pointless!] The director says I can't go until I tell my story. Really! [What!? I can't hear you!] I don't care what the director says, I'm going to tell my story my way, with NO interruptions. [Did you hear that!? I said NO interruptions! At all!] So as I was saying before someone interrupted me, my name is Tatiana Grey. No I will not say my last name, it has nothing to do with the story! Well, maybe a small part...fine a big part! Anyways, I wasn't happy with my family. They are always cooped up in their random corners of the Earth working. Always working! I mean seriously! Who works 24/7!? I decided at a young age that I wanted dance. I wanted to be a ballerina. So that's what I did. The story begins when I got a chance to visit Paris... Oh and before I start please call me Tina, Tatiana is way to old school!
